ACHA announces 2020-2021 season update..

The ACHA intends to have a regular start to the 2020-21 season for all members that are permitted by their respective colleges and universities to compete this fall.

We anticipate our annual Team Declaration and Registration process to begin in July and will be providing all those details shortly.

The ACHA strongly encourages our member Team Reps and Coaches to be in regular contact with their respective athletic and club sports departments so you are aware of any decisions being made on reintroducing students back to campus as well as restarting sports and competition. We also recommend communicating with your local home ice rink (if you utilize a non-campus facility) as to their policies and possible restrictions to ensure your team will be compliant.

It is the responsibility of each ACHA team to make sure they are in compliance with their respective institution, state and local guidelines to resume competition. The ACHA’s primary concern is the well-being and best interests of our student-athletes, coaches and fans, so we want to make sure that all ACHA teams meet these requirements and are eligible to participate during the 2020-21 season.

The ACHA continues to monitor college and university plans on returning to campus and sports as well as the lead of several organizations such as the CDC, NCAA and USA Hockey regarding the COVID-19 situation. We are also working on several contingency plans to implement if need be due to the fluidity of these uncertain times.

As a reference for our membership, the NCAA Sport Science Institute has provided a comprehensive set of guidelines for schools to use as a resource in coordination with applicable government and related institutional polices and guidelines. We recommend ACHA members review these strategies. http://www.ncaa.org/sport-science-institute/resocialization-collegiate-sport-action-plan-considerations

We hope this information helps you and your student-athletes plan for a safe return to college and the start of the 2020-21 hockey season!
